RECIPE: Simple & Juicy Yakitori (Chicken Skewers)
Enjoy a taste of classic izakaya (Japanese pub) food at home with this simple recipe! Marinated in a delightfully tangy red shiso dressing, these yakitori skewers are tender and juicy and come together quickly without needing to fire up the grill.
Servings: 1-2
Ingredients:
-
160g (~ 6 oz) chicken thigh
-
2 Tbsp Red Shiso Dressing
-
2 pinches of salt
Toppings:
-
Diced chili pepper
-
Julienned basil
Instructions:
-
Cut the chicken thigh into bite-sized pieces. In a resealable bag or container, toss the chicken with Red Shiso Dressing and sprinkle with salt. Marinate in the fridge for 3-5 hours (or overnight).
-
Arrange the marinated chicken on skewers (pre-soak in water for 30 mins if using bamboo or wood skewers to prevent burning).
-
Skewers can be baked at 400°F (200°C) on a lined baking sheet for 25-30 mins, flipping halfway through cooking. Skewers can also be broiled for about 6 mins on each side. To cook on the stovetop, heat a frying pan over high heat and cook the skewers for about 4 mins on each side.

Serve with optional toppings and sauces and enjoy!
