Why Kokoro Care?

Kokoro translates to “heart” in Japanese, but has a much deeper meaning. It represents spirit, soul and emotion, and is the foundation of Kokoro Care.

Founded by two friends living an ocean apart, Kokoro Care offers a curation of artisanal foods made locally in Japan. From sauces to seasonings, teas, snacks and more, each product has been carefully chosen for its quality, taste and tradition. We want everyone to enjoy the flavors of Japan, no matter your skill level, and are confident that any product you choose will become your next favorite!

We partner with local farmers and producers to bring the best Japan has to offer to your table. Many of our products are made using centuries old traditions that have been passed down through generations. By enjoying our products, you are helping to preserve these traditions while connecting to the stories of the people who create them.

We want everyone to feel welcome in our Kokoro Community and make it easy for you to find the products that fit your lifestyle. Whether you're looking for vegan, soy-free, gluten-free or dairy-free, we proudly list the ingredients and highlight dietary information when applicable.

Satoyama is a Japanese word which combines sato (village) with yama (mountain) and is a place where humans co-exist with the natural landscape. Our products are made with this concept in mind, using sustainable methods that nurture and respect the environment from which they're grown.

All of our products are as natural as possible and made without artificial chemicals, MSG or high fructose corn syrup. We take great care in finding high-quality products that everyone can feel confident enjoying.

All of our products are made locally in Japan and showcase Japan’s unique regions and seasonal ingredients. Some are so local they’re difficult to find even in other areas of Japan!

Made by skilled local craftsmen, our handmade products will make you feel like you’re traveling through the countryside of Japan and stopping to enjoy the seasonal foods at local roadside stands known as Michi no Eki.

Whether you’re new to Japanese food, a passionate foodie or a creative home cook or chef, there’s something for everyone at Kokoro Care. We believe that enjoying food is an act of self-care, a way to nourish your body while sipping some tea, sharing a snack or eating a meal with loved ones. Our inclusive global community and local farmers and producers are excited to welcome you as you join us on a journey through the tastes of Japan.
