RECIPE: TabiEats' Mother's Potato Miso Soup


My mother loves potatoes and she loves them in miso soup. She made this at least once a week when we were kids and I still love them till this day.

Servings: 2-3


  • 2 cups water
  • 1 pack awase dashi
  • 2 tbsp miso
  • 1/2 cup potatoes (julienned)
  • Green onions (chopped)


  1. Combine water, dashi pack and miso in a saucepan and simmer over medium heat for 3 mins.
  2. Take out the dashi pack. Add in julienned potatoes and cook over medium heat covered for 3 mins or until tender.
  3. Transfer to individual bowls. Top with chopped green onions and serve immediately.
