RECIPE:Tuna & Avocado Shiso Tartare
Easy to make yet elevated, this eye-catching appetizer combines sweet, buttery tuna with rich avocado and mozzarella cheese. A touch of shiso olive oil and lemon brightens the palate creating a luxurious dish.
Servings: 8
Ingredients:
- 200g (7oz) sushi grade tuna
- 1 avocado (~100g)
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp Shiso (Japanese Basil) Olive Oil Sauce
- 2 tsp mayonnaise
- 30g (1oz) mozzarella cheese, diced
- Lemon, thinly sliced rounds
- Fresh coriander/ cilantro (to taste)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions:
- Dice the tuna and avocado into 5mm (¼ inch) cubes.
- Combine lemon juice, Shiso Olive Oil Sauce, and mayonnaise in a large bowl to create a sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add diced tuna, avocado, and mozzarella cheese to the bowl and mix to evenly coat.
- Place a 3cm diameter ring mold the plate and evenly pack with about ⅛ of the tuna mixture. Remove the ring mold and repeat with the remaining mixture.
- Garnish with thinly sliced lemon and sprigs of fresh coriander/cilantro.
