Unlike the typical miso found in your local grocery store, this flavored miso combines the salty umami flavor of miso with one of Japan’s most beloved fruits: yuzu. Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit that is best described as a mix between a lemon and a mandarin orange and it adds the perfect tart sweetness to this award winning yuzu miso. It can be used for cooking and baking, in dressings, marinades and glazes or as a spread similar to marmalade (NOTE: not to be used for miso soup).

Yuzurikko, located in Tokushima prefecture, a region famous for its yuzu, was founded by Sumie Misawa when she was 66 years old. She noticed that many pesticide-free yuzu were being left unused as the aging farmers were no longer able to climb the steep mountain slopes to harvest the fruit. She didn't want to see the precious yuzu go to waste and decided to reinvigorate the industry by creating her own yuzu products and bringing in younger farmers to help with the harvest.

Suggested uses: Can be used for cooking and baking. Use it indressings, marinades and glazes, as a sauce for steamed/boiled vegetable or grilled fish/meat, or as a spread similar to marmalade (NOTE: Not to be used for miso soup).
