Unique to Saitama Prefecture, Sayama green tea is considered somewhat rare to find outside of Japan. Even more rare, this Hokumei (lit. gnorth teah) cultivar was specially developed by the Saitama Tea Research Institute in 1992. Painstakingly cultivated on a single plantation in Tokorozawa City, Saitama, this special Sayama green tea has a refreshing aroma and beautifully balanced notes of umami, sweetness, astringency, and bitterness.
