These rice crackers are known as “kaki no tane” given their distinctive shape which is reminiscent of persimmon (“kaki” in Japanese) seed. Made from 100% domestic glutinous rice and shaped by in-house craftsmen, the crackers included in this mix come in four flavors: plain, soy sauce, smoked cheese, and spicy chili pepper.

Rich & Creamy Kudzu Hot Chocolate: In a mug, gradually combine 60ml (~5 Tbsp) of water, 60ml (~5 Tbsp) of milk, and one drink mix packet. Stir to dissolve and microwave for 1 min (600W). Remove and mix well before enjoying.

Konpeito (from the Portuguese word “confeito” meaning “candy”) are a small Japanese candy shaped like confetti. Made with domestically grown sakura blossoms, these konpeito have an elegant floral flavor and resemble the iconic pale pink flowers. Just like blooming sakura, making konpeito takes time and patience. Tiny grains of sugar are slowly rotated in a large drum while sugar syrup is gradually added, creating the candy’s characteristic bumps. This process takes 3 weeks from start to finish and takes confectioners years to master.

Top with slices of roasted pork, green onions, sesame seeds and ra-yu* (chili oil) for added flavor and texture if desired.
