RECIPE: Quick & Creamy Tea Leaf Furikake Pasta

Recipe: Quick & Creamy Tea Leaf Furikake Pasta

Perfect for cheesy pasta lovers, this creamy pasta is easy to make and offers a unique twist with Japanese flavors! The mild richness of the cream cheese pairs well with the savory flavors of furikake ingredients such as seaweed and bonito flakes, while the nutty, umami-rich flavor of the Parmesan elevates the natural umami of the green tea leaves. While easy to make, this recipe transforms a plain pasta dish into something unforgettable!

Servings: 2

Ingredients:

● 225g (~2 cups, dry) pasta of your choice

● 160g (~6 oz) cream cheese

● 30g (¼ cup) grated Parmesan cheese

● 30g (¼ cup) grated Grana Padano cheese (can be substituted with Parmigiano Reggiano)

● 1-2 cloves garlic (minced)

● 120ml (½ cup pasta water) (add more as needed)

● Salt and pepper (to taste)

● 1⁄2 tsp Crunchy Tea Leaf Furikake

● 1 Tbsp neutral cooking oil

Instructions:

1. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Before draining the pasta, reserve about a cup of the starchy pasta water.

2. Once the pasta has cooked, make the pasta sauce. Heat oil in a frying pan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and gently fry for 2 mins.

3. Add the cream cheese and ~½ cup of the reserved pasta water. Stir to create a rich and creamy emulsion. Finish with grated Parmesan and Grana Padano cheese and mix well. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Add the drained pasta to the frying pan and toss to evenly coat with the sauce. If desired, add more of the reserved pasta water for a smoother, creamier consistency.

5. Serve with a sprinkle of Crunchy Tea Leaf Furikake, additional grated Parmesan, and enjoy!
