Shiso is a Japanese herb related to mint that has an earthy flavor similar to basil and anise with hints of citrus. It comes in two varieties, red and green. The green is commonly used as a garnish for sashimi or made into tempura while the red variety often adds color and flavor to umeboshi (pickled Japanese plums). This unique sauce features high-quality shiso leaves masterfully combined with rich Spanish olive oil, garlic, salt, and chili peppers, resulting in a savory paste full of herbal flavor.
