RECIPE: Mentsuyu Tuna Donburi (Rice Bowl)
Savory, tangy, and subtly sweet, mentsuyu gives this donburi (rice bowl) a boost of flavor and complements the richness of the tuna. Served over a bed of warm white rice, this dish draws on the beauty of simple Japanese ingredients.

Ingredients:

100g (3.5 oz) sashimi-grade tuna (cut into thin, bite-sized pieces)

50ml (~ ¼ cup) All-Purpose Mentsuyu (Noodle Soup Base)

1 tsp soy sauce*

2 tsp sesame oil*

1 leaf shiso or basil (julienned)

1 serving cooked white rice

Chives or garlic chives (julienned, optional)

Japanese pickles* (chopped, optional) (Amazake Light Pickle recipe included in this booklet)

Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions:

Add All-Purpose Mentsuyu, soy sauce, sesame oil and optional chives and chopped pickles to a bowl. Stir to combine.

Add tuna to the bowl and toss to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the fridge for 30 mins.

Arrange marinated tuna over a bowl of cooked white rice and garnish with julienned shiso or basil leaves and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
