This delightful jelly dessert features a balanced blend of two famous teas: matcha and kakegawa. Beloved the world around, matcha lends its mellow grassiness and natural bittersweet taste in addition to its vibrant green color. Kakegawa tea, which is a specialty of Shizuoka, is a type of deep steamed sencha known for its rich aroma and flavor which beautifully perfumes this jelly. Thickened with domestic kudzu (arrowroot) powder and lightly sweetened, this simple dessert can be enjoyed hot or cold, making it the perfect sweet treat!

Originally founded as a fertilizer company in 1927, Yamayei has a longstanding connection with Shizuoka’s abundant nature. Suggested uses: Chill in the fridge and enjoy. Can also be put into a heat-safe bowl and microwaved for 1 min at 600W to create a warm, thick soup-like dessert. Pairs well with kuromitsu (Japanese sugar syrup similar to molasses) and kinako (roasted soybean powder) (not included).
