An essential ingredient in Japanese cuisine, soy sauce instantly adds umami to dishes. Brewed in traditional wooden barrels that are tended to twice daily for three years by master brewers, this premium-quality soy sauce has a rich, savory flavor without being overly salty.

Now in its 8th generation, Marunaka Shoyu is one of the few remaining soy sauce brewers in Japan still using traditional practices to create their soy sauce. This family-owned business uses 200-year-old methods and equipment, and its brewing facility has been recognized by the Japanese government as a National Tangible Cultural Property. Their high-quality soy sauce is a favorite amongst Michelin star chefs and even appeared on tables at the G20 Osaka Summit in 2019.

Suggested uses: These portable packets make it easy to add umami to all of your favorite dishes like sushi, sashimi, and gyoza (Japanese dumplings). Try combining it with other staple ingredients like rice vinegar*, miso*, or the Yuzu Kosho* included in this package to create simple and delicious dressings and sauces.
