In keeping with tradition, this vegetable soup known as "kenchinjiru" features root vegetables. Smooth tofu together with the crunchy veggies create a pleasing texture. The ingredients are stir-fried with sesame oil, and then slowly simmered in an umami-rich dashi (stock) to create a rich, flavorful soup

Storage: Room temperature. Refrigerate prepared leftovers.
Ingredients: Dextrin, soy sauce, starch, salt, rice miso, fermented seasoning, sesame oil, yeast extract, sugar, bonito flakes powder, bonito stock, kelp extract, spices, ingredients (tofu (domestic), burdock, boiled lotus root, green onion, dried carrots, roasted sesame), tofu coagulant, antioxidant (VE), (contains wheat, sesame, and soybeans)

We provide ingredients and common allergens based on the packaging as a reference only. Please consume with caution based on your own individual health concerns as we cannot guarantee the presence or lack of certain ingredients, allergens and/or animal products.

Suggested Uses: Pour the contents into a bowl, add 160ml of boiling water and stir well. It will be ready in about 1 minute. You can also combine one package with 150g of uncooked rice and a pinch of salt and cook with water in your rice cooker to make Japanese Mixed Rice ("takikomi gohan"). This soup is easily portable to bring for lunch.
Substitutions: Try this soup in place of any warm soup you plan to serve. For example, in the fall or winter, it would be a wonderful soup to use in place of a butternut squash soup or a minestrone soup.

Part of my travel pack

I bought Kenchinjiru to bring while traveling for work and I'm proud to say that it was a great idea. I've since bought more and will continue to do so. This allows me to have something warm, simple, and satisfying during layovers or settling into the hotel at the odd hour.
