These senbei (rice crackers) are made from a special type of thick yet soft, domestic rice known as Uruchi rice. The rice is polished, dried for 12 hours, then double-baked to enhance its flavors and add a beautiful brown color. The shape of each cracker is unique as skilled craftsmen make them one by one by hand.

Kakinotane are popular type of rice cracker made from glutinousmochi rice. These kakinotane are seasoned with organic tamari soy sauce and other traditional Japanese seasoningsto create a balanced umami filled snack.

Yatsuhashi from Kyoto are among the most famous souvenirs from Japan. Typically made from a combination of rice flour and sugar flavored with cinnamon, these crunchy, baked yatsuhashi also include kinako (roasted and ground soybeans), which adds a sweet, nutty flavor similar to peanut butter.

These special sweet and sour treats are made from a rare variety of Japanese plum known as Benisashi ume. Prized for their tart flavor and juicy texture, the plums are fermented and preserved using only sugar, then aged for over 6 months.

Nothing will make you feel like a child like a warm sweet bowl ofzenzai. Zenzai is a traditional Japanese dessert soup made withazuki (sweet beans) and plump hotmochi (glutinous rice). Unique to this zenzai is the mix of 16 different grains which add wholesome tastes and textures to the sweet mellow soup.
