Spicy Umami Chili Sauce combines Japanese and Korean flavors, lending a subtly sweet spiciness to this easy-to-make chicken dish.

Servings: 2

Ingredients:

  • 100g (3.5 oz) chicken thigh, cut into bite-size pieces
  • Pinch of salt*
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil*

Sauce:

Garnish (optional):

  • White sesame seeds
  • Coriander, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Pat chicken thigh pieces dry and sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
  2. In a medium bowl, add the sauce ingredients and stir to combine. Add pieces of chicken thigh and coat. Cover and let marinate in the fridge for at least one hour.
  3. In a hot frying pan, add sesame oil and marinated chicken pieces, saving the sauce in the bowl. Reduce heat to medium and pour in the sauce.
  4. When the surface of the chicken changes color, flip the pieces, cover the pan, and steam to finish cooking. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped coriander and enjoy! For added spice, serve with additional spicy umami chili sauce as a dipping sauce.
