RECIPE: Crispy Pork and Vegetable Rolls with Spicy Yuzu Leek Sauce

This easy to prepare dish features succulent slices of pork belly wrapped around tender vegetables and pan-fried to crispy perfection. Top with a drizzle of spicy yuzu leek sauce for citrus and spice.

Servings: 2

Ingredients:

  • 150g (⅓ lb) thinly sliced pork belly
  • 100g (3.5 oz) seasonal vegetables (Eg. enoki mushrooms, carrots, green beans, asparagus, green onion, etc.) (julienned)
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • Salt (as needed)

Spicy Yuzu Leek Sauce

  • 40g (~½) leek
  • 50ml (¼ cup) Spicy Yuzu Citrus Ponzu
  • 1 Tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp rayu (Japanese chili oil)*
  • ½ tsp grated ginger
  • ½ tsp grated garlic

Instructions:

  1. Lay flat one piece of thinly sliced pork belly and place a few julienned vegetables at one end. Roll the vegetables in the pork, covering the length of the vegetables entirely. Repeat with the remaining pork belly and vegetables. Sprinkle with salt for additional flavor.
  2. Heat 2 tsp of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Lightly cover the pork and vegetable rolls in flour and pan fry for 2-3 mins. Flip using tongs and cook another 2-3 mins or until browned and cooked through.
  4. While the pork rolls are cooking, prepare the spicy yuzu leek sauce. Begin by thinly slicing the leek into ~5mm (~¼ inch) pieces. In a bowl, combine the remaining sauce ingredients and mix well. Add the leek and gently stir.
  5. Plate the cooked pork and vegetable rolls and drizzle with spicy yuzu leek sauce.
