Giveaway: One-of-a-kind, hand-dyed Japanese Indigo bandana from Curious Corners

Five (5) lucky winners will be receiving one (1) hand-crafted, Indigo blue created by Curious Corners.

The vibrant and deep, rich color of Indigo blue has come to be known as "Japanese blue" and Japan is one of the few cultures that still carries the age-old traditional method of indigo dyeing to this day.

Swallowtail Butterfly Bandana from Curious Corners: We use fine cotton fabric from Japan, hand-dyed in natural-blend Yamato Indigo Dye, and individually hand-printed with “bassen,” (discharge) technique. The design includes “ageha-cho-mon (揚羽蝶紋),” the swallowtail butterfly used on family crests, and arabesque.

Yamato Indigo is a Japanese natural-blend indigo powder dye.

The design includes “ageha-cho-mon (揚羽蝶紋),” the swallowtail butterfly used on family crests, and the leaves of Japanese indigo. As a result of the handmade process, each product has a one-of-a-kind tone and pattern of indigo, from light to medium.

About Curious Corners

Curious Corners was founded in 2014 in NYC by Sayaka Toyama. They provide indigo workshops and dyeing services, and produce products and events in order to tell the rich history of indigo and other textile traditions in Japan. While appreciating today's wide availability of chemical and semi-natural indigo and denim dye, the company hopes to remind people the fabric color used to be what we received from the nature — not from what we pick from a color chart.
