Curry may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Japanese food, but curry rice (pronounced karē raisu), is actually one of Japan’s most popular dishes. Known for being more sweet than spicy, Japanese curries also have a thick, flavourful sauce which is created by using a roux in the cooking process. In this curry, the roux is sweetened with Aomori Prefecture's famous apples and sugar beets from Hokkaido Prefecture. You will find this curry very easy to make and deliciously satisfying.
