Wakoen

Prefecture of Japan: Kagoshima

Wakoen in Japanese: 和香園

Wakohen’s story started about 70 years ago when Hitoshi Horiguchi had the vision of growing tea on a small 1-hectare (2.5 acres) parcel of land. His son, Yasuhisa, helped to increase the number of tea gardens and factories which has helped his tea farm grow to 130 hectares (321 acres) while making Kagoshima the biggest tea production region of Japan.
