Who is Miwa?

Miwa!

Originally from Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture (read our blog post about Kanagawa here!) the theme of our Miwa is a Japanese mom (to two sons) who has spent time in Texas, California, and Cambridge, UK and works full time in HR and as a yoga instructor, but has a passion for cooking - enter Miwa’s Japanese Cooking! Through her blog & social media channels (including youtube!)  she shares the home cooked meal recipes that she makes for her family everyday with care and love. Instead of Tempura and Sushi that you will find in a typical Japanese cookbooks she will share ways to incorporate wholesome yet easy Japanese cooking into your diet!

The concept of Miwa's Japanese Cooking Class was born when our Miwa lived in Cambridge, UK in 2016. While her husband was studying at University of Cambridge, Miwa started to utilize her previous experience of cooking and opened her first Japanese cooking class at home for the locals. The first class was only with 3 people, but it then grew in popularity by word of mouth. Later, a cooking class company in Cambridge offered her to host a Japanese cooking class gathering more than 10 people (with some waitlisted).

Coming back to Tokyo, Japan in summer 2017, Miwa wanted to continue teaching Japanese cooking to tourists to Japan and opened Miwa's Japanese Cooking Class in May 2018. She now has a YouTube channel, Instagram page, and continues to teach classes and share recipes (find her on her website!)
