Shio konbu (salted kelp) is a Japanese pantry staple found in nearly every home in Japan. It's made by simmering kelp strips in Japanese seasonings until tender, then drying them lock in their deep umami flavor. Try it as a quick flavor boost for rice, noodles, soups, or vegetables.
