RECIPE: Curry Miso Pasta au Gratin

 

Enjoy a Japanese-Italian fusion dish in this rich gratin with a curry miso flavor! The savory curry miso paste complements the cream sauce perfectly, creating an addictively delicious dish. These ingredients pair well with almost anything, so feel free to add your favorite ingredients!


Servings: 4


Ingredients:


  • 100g pasta (such as spiral pasta or orzo)

  • 4 cups water

  • 1 medium potato

  • ½ onion 

  • 4 brown mushrooms

  • 5 sausage links

  • Pepper, to taste

  • Salt, to taste

  • 1 Tbsp butter


For the curry cream sauce:

  • 1⅔  Tbsp all purpose flour

  • 300ml milk

  • 1½ Tbsp Curry Miso Paste

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • ½ cup shredded cheese

  • Dried basil, to taste

 Note: You can substitute any ingredients to suit your diet preferences.


 

Instructions:


  1. Slice the potato, onion, mushrooms and sausage.

  2. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a pot and add the salt and pasta. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions and then drain. 

  3. Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat and add the onion. Cook the onion until it is soft and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  4. Sprinkle in the flour and mix. Once mixed thoroughly, add the milk in three batches over medium heat, stirring each time to thicken.

  5. Add the curry miso paste, salt, and pepper and cook over medium heat until the paste is more liquid, then remove from heat.

  6. Place the pasta in a heat-resistant dish and pour the curry miso paste mixture over it. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and bake in the oven for about 7 mins at 400℉ (200℃).

  7. Once the cheese has melted and turned golden brown, top with basil.
