Made famous in Japan, indigo goes by the name of "Japanese blue" and has been used for centuries as a fabric dye and medicinal herb. In a quiet village overlooking a picturesque blue ocean in Nagasaki Prefecture, Atelier Aiakane cultivates various local seasonal crops but is best known for its indigo plants. Indigo stalks and leaves, and depending on the harvest time, roots, seeds and flowers, are harvested, washed, and dried in the sun every morning. It’s then packed by hand with butterfly-pea flowers, resulting in a floral, calming tea with a vibrant blue color when steeped.

Suggested Uses: Place one tea bag in a cup (preferably clear) and add boiling water. Steep until it produces a vibrant blue color. The color changes depending on the pH level of substances added to it. Adding lemon juice turns it a vibrant purple while adding fuchsia roselle hibiscus leaves will turn it bright red. Enjoy as is or add honey to sweeten.
Substitutions: Use in cocktails or freeze into ice cubes and watch it magically change the color of drinks as it melts!

Gorgeous tea

It's a lovely light tea. Might not be for everyone, but the flavor was not over powering by any means. I gave the rest of my package to my niece as I thought a teen girl might be amused by sharing with her friends too. It makes a great gift!
