Okinawa, Japan's southernmost tropical prefecture, is known for its sandy tropical beaches, laid back island culture, and delicious local delicacies. With influences from Japan, China, and Southeast Asia, Okinawa has a cuisine that is distinct from the rest of Japan and takes full advantage of all the natural ingredients which grow on the islands.
This Nama-Miso Tuna Chili Oil combines locally-sourcedbonito (tuna) sourced from the Kubura Fishing Port with each bonito being carefully dried one by one to produce the richest flavor. with umami-richnama-miso(raw miso that has not been heat-treated) and a variety of local island spices, natural sea salt from the coral seas of Ishigaki Island, and kokuto (local Okianwan brown sugar) to create a delectable chili oil full of Okinawan flavor.
Our producer, Yonaguni Suisan Kako, invites you to enjoy the exquisite harmony of Okinawa’schuruami (the beautiful graceful ocean) and all the island’s blessings.
